Passion for People
"My mom has been a great role model. As single women, we both had our struggles in achieving our goals. She taught me that women alone need the support of other women."
Carolyn, daughter of Evelyn, is a retired college professor of Business. She has a passion for Chinese art and culture, having brought about a Shanghai college exchange program. Evelyn was a successful independent real estate broker in San Diego. Her passion for people was apparent to all, and no doubt played a key role in her success as a businesswoman.
Eveyln and Carolyn used appreciated real property to set up a charitable remainder unitrust with Scripps Health. They received an income tax deduction in the year of the gift, an income stream for the rest of their lives, and the satisfaction of knowing they are helping Scripps.
Why Scripps? "We like their attitude - we share their values about what to accomplish with the donated funds."
